Jewell: Bullard Pursuit Continues
Jewell: Bullard Pursuit Continues
Tuesday, 23rd Aug 2011 11:28

Town boss Paul Jewell says the Blues have continued their pursuit of former loanee Jimmy Bullard since Saturday’s 7-1 defeat at Peterborough. Having spoken to the 32-year-old last Thursday and his agent on Friday, Jewell talked with them both again yesterday.

Jewell told the club site: "I spoke to Jimmy and his agent twice yesterday and once on Sunday with the owner about him.

"He had a meeting with QPR and there are a couple of other Premier League teams in for him but we are trying to be competitive and we are trying to bring him here.

"Jimmy is going to be very expensive but he does also want to play football, so we are trying to do something with him."

Bullard’s Hull City contract is in the process of being terminated due to an undisclosed indiscretion on a pre-season trip to Slovenia with a host of clubs including Wolves, Wigan, Blackburn, Bolton, Norwich and West Ham all linked in the last few days.

Meanwhile, Town's reserves are in action in a behind-closed-doors game against Colchester United this afternoon.

got as much chance in winning the fight for his signature as that quadraplegic guy had in winning that UFC bout. Difference is that guy looked brave for trying and we just gonna look stupid

No chance of him coming here. It won't be about playing football, it'll be about how much money he will be offered. Probably off to QPR or West 'Am

i fear it is saving face, making everyone see we did all we could and when he goes elsewhere he will be blamed for being greedy and we wont be blamed for not trying hard enough, thats what i think. however i am happy to be proved wrong, come on Jimmy you know you wanna!

its says on Marko Suler wiki "He is known for his speed, good heading skills and his leadership on the pitch."

He has everything we need at the back!

Shame we wont be signing him then...

You don't try you don't get...looking stupid..no the only ones looking stupid are the ones with the typical Suffolk pessimistic view on everything. Drives me up a wall.

Be very happy with him and the other Slovenian lad to be honest, neither of them are too old and both have played at international level..

i just hope this gets resolved quickly, one way or the other... it really is distracting, esp if it comes to nothing... and since he'll be mega expensive i hope it will be worth it in the end...

victorywillhappen - I haven't had a reply yet from Cleggy or should I say the executive office as it said in my confirmation email, not that I expected one so quickly, so fare play to McCall.

I don't doubt PJ is working his ar$e off trying to get in players like JB and some defenders but I just hope they aren't panic buys/loans, having said that whoever they are they can't be any worse than we have......can they?

If Steve McCall fancies a trip to Leicester there will be a half decent right back on display down Victoria Park on Sunday Morning.

No transfer fee involved and would play for free too..

Make him captain and offer a massive promotion bonus!

it did say a bid for a premierleague player, if this is a seperate thing then great, but see Halliche being the player and PJ bidding for Lowry on loan to offer Edwards competition.

Just a note, first time commenter on here, all the way from Australia, and just find it very dissapointing that I read posts on here and twitter about fans refusing to go and watch any more games, tearing up season tickets, saying they are no longer fans. To those who say these absurd comments, don't ever come back to Ipswich Town FC, you are simply just useless to the club.

I also must add that after reading Stockdale's comments on twitter, he finds the positives in every situation, gets on with the game and hasnt taken the result to heart. Remember everyone here, it was 1 game. It is a 46 game season. Town will be up there, because we have quality and class. A couple CB's and we will be challenging. Let the team blend and get behind the mighty ITFC.

"Jimmy is going to be very expensive "

No thanks, would rather spend the money on some defenders.

Seem to remember him in the line up when the budgies stuffed us and he made little difference.
Time we moved on from the JB obsession.
I personally hope he goes elsewhere...and quick, fed up with seeing his name and face on here.

Nope, sorry.

Maybe it would be worth looking at Matt Tootle @ Crewe and Scott Doe @ Dagenham..

Marko Suler - Have a look at

Looks like just what we need but I guess its easy to make someone look good in this sort of promotional video. Not sure how much he would cost though?

Hahaha! Will do victory!

No refund asked for, I think asking for my Sky subscription refunded would be a tad to far!!!! Haha!

It was just a general concern type of email in terms of funds available, ME's commitment and involvement, there views on moving forward etc etc etc.
To be honest not quite sure what I expect it to achieve by it but as there are very few of us blues up here I guess my frustration of last week led to it!

Onwards and upwards eh!!!

Well said christjant!

Loving Stocko's tweets - very positive and encouraging.

I can't wait to see who (if anyone) we sign. It will make a very interesting match on Saturday - either way!

For goodness sake let's move forward and forget about signing Bullard as he doesn't really want to come here.I'm afraid to say that it all comes down to money and who will come up with the biggest wage packet.

Mark added 12:51 - Aug 23
Bullard will follow the money to the Premier League I suspect, so how about we look to League One, League Two and overseas instead?!

Well said Chrisjant - we need more fans like you posting so that hopefully the doom and gloom merchants will finally give up and perhaps try supporting their team instead of endlessly criticising them!

Marko Suler - quick, strong, two footed, can pass and head the ball. I don't see why not, looks a great addition and can cover either of the two CB positions.

I admire Paul Jewell for his dedication to the job and his 100% determination to turn things around. He is not afraid to do the unthinkable and his never-say-die attitude to management is a breath of fresh air in modern game. We are all behind you Paul!

Oh Jimmy Bullard you are thelove of my life. I dont care that he may cost a bit he is worth it if can stay fit not just for his footballing skills, but his humour and his presence around the team can be just as important plus my new shirt is awaiting your name on back!!!!
