Target Davies Set for Action
Target Davies Set for Action
Friday, 10th Aug 2012 16:57

Town target Steve Davies says he expects to play his first game of pre-season for Derby at Chesterfield on Saturday. The Rams have rested the 24-year-old frontman, who wants a move to a club in the south, so he doesn’t pick up an injury which would prevent a deal from going through.

Davies said: “Looking forward to actually being involved in a game tomorrow. Hope to play at some point.”

The Blues and Derby have so far been unable to agree a fee for the former Tranmere man who Paul Jewell signed during his spell at Pride Park. The Rams are believed to want £1 million for the Liverpudlian, a figure Jewell says the Blues can’t afford.

Davies's inclusion in the friendly suggests a move to the Blues - or elsewhere - is not currently close to being done.

Can't see him coming here now, but I trust Jewell and the club will have a plan B, or C, or whatever letter we're now at.
In Jewell We Trust.

Got a feeling that no new striker will be coming to Town and we will have to look to Ellington, Just hoping Murray is ready to step in and score goals

Why will we have to rely on Ellington? What about Scotland or JET (when carlos moved into midfield) to add to chopra and Murray (as the season goes on)

for a 4231 formation that is not as desparate a situation as you suggest Karlosfandangal ?? Am I missing something? See you at the Bristol Rovers game!

I'd like to think we do have a plan B and C because to rely on one player coming all summer would be crazy. To be honest what sort of state would Davies turn up in anyway seeing as he hasn't played at all since May?

Don't care about Davies anymore. Quite obvious he isn't coming our way. Still think we need another striker but I'm sure Jewell's working on that.

If Davies is so fragile Derby daren't risk him in a friendly, you begin to wonder...

Out of everybody linked to us he is the one I want dont't know why. I just have a real good feeling about him. Last I felt like this was when we signed Marcus Steward

Why do we struggle to sign the many players we appear to target? Its so frustrating.

8 Days before the season starts and we STILL havent sorted the back four out (no depth and only x2 CB's to speak of )...No big Midfielder, and No big striker to partner Chopra.

And God help us if we get any injuries, the bench is woefully short on experience. Very good first 11, but Paper Thin squad!

I still say to my fellow town fans patience! Although as in the past with ITFC with the potential 'unheard of, unproven player' that hopefully we'll be linked with in the next few days!!

Madine is a fine player & exactly the type we want, but the second Wednesday got the 2nd automatic promotion spot it was a non runner. Pity as I think he will move on to a Premiership team for very big money in a year or two.
If we can't afford Davies at £750k - £1m we definitely can't afford Madine.

I did notice that Davies came on as a sub yesterday,, as a defender then he was put up front and he scored a consolation goal against Chesterfield !!!!!
