Just been perusing thru the comments section regarding "The Bridge". So it is to relieve pressure on Orwell Bridge and act as an alternative route in the event OB is shut due to high winds?

Why not simply build up the sides of OB and put a roof on it to keep wind off it? This would also be a stunning design feature... I envisage something like this, just bigger and the sides filled in.

Just the 6 months with the bridge out of action that would prove the problem. They'd be better building a separate tunnel under the Orwell.
