Legal/accountant types quick question 11:34 - Jun 2 with 1182 viewsgordon

Does an invoice raised by a sole trader legally have to have an invoice number and the name and address of the sole trader on it, or is this just recommended good practice?

I'm about to query an invoice supplied by a landlord in a deposit dispute that looks like he knocked it up himself (it just has a name 'Direct Decor' and a mobile number, and no address, name, or invoice number) and I want to get my facts right - the information at the link below is good but it doesn't make clear quite what is meant by 'must'.

If you’re a sole trader, the invoice must also include:

your name and any business name being used
an address where any legal documents can be delivered to you if you are using a business name
