Formation at Pride Park 03:45 - Aug 22 with 942 viewsshoopdelang

Just got home, tired so can't be bothered to go into too much detail. However I think the first half our formation and system worked well; Derby looked stuck for ideas. Harrison pressing as a lone front man with the rest of the team behind him tucking in worked well and forced/allowed Derby to move the ball side to side without creating too many real threats. When away from home this is of course fine, you have a draw to hold onto from the off.

When Derby went 1 and then 2 up however for me the game was crying out for us to go 4 4 2 with two front men pressing and the midfield going man for man forcing Derby into going longer. Obviously we needed to have the ball back quicker and allowing them too keep playing nice / going nowhere football isn't ideal when you are chasing a game.

Anyone know if PH has that in his locker tactically, to adapt as per the game or does he tend to stick to his guns throughout ?

Overall not a lot in the game both teams relatively poor, Derby a little more quality but considering the huge financial difference in the clubs the difference was minimal.

Even if it is only for the first half to see how it goes, get Morris up front and stick him on the last defender. We need more threat going through the middle. We are too predictable.

Morris is young and pre-dates Hurst's arrival so must therefore be snubbed.

It's strange, he's the only striker to have looked to impose himself on a game in the time he's been on the pitch, yet he can't even make the bench anymore.
