Had mine taken off the street between Mon 15:30 and Thu 18:00 No CCTV on street Have reported to polive, got a crime reference number and notified insurers Not sure of next steps
Never had a car nicked but did have substantial damage done by a 'drive away' once, same thing - all I could do was notify the insurers and get a crime number from the police. In that case I was given the go ahead to get the car repaired but the difference for you is whether you need a car in which case does your insurance cover a hire car until there is a pay out if the loss of the car is accepted (unlikely I guess) or whether you resign yourself to never seeing the car again (or hearing that it has been found as a burnt out wreck) and buy another. There could be a risk of ending up with an extra car if the stolen car turns up in a decent state.
Apologies in advance if I’m stating the obvious but do double check your insurance...you may be entitled to a free hire car for a period of time. I had a mate who forgot that he had purchased gap insurance which helps with the situation another poster mentioned about insurers being less than it will cost to replace the vehicle.
Apart from that you need to keep on at your insurers to settle the claim.

Checked mate, don't have free hire car. Not the end pf the world, just wondering how long the process takes. With two kids need a car but thinking of going down the ZipCar/hire car route
Hope it is found and returned without significant damage.
Had my first car broken into within 24 hours of getting it. The horrible feeling (and an irrational caution about where I park) remains with me to this day.
