For as long as I can remember we’ve been shocking in the second half of the season. Seem to do OK until Christmas (last season aside) and then slide dangerously afterwards. I hoped that things might change this year given a bloated squad and lower level football but seems to be the same thing. Is it fitness? Is it mental fatigue? Do other teams raise their level? Either way - still looking forward to Bristol Rovers!

This season, it's more a case of taking full advantage when other teams were still getting themselves organised and thinking that we were some kind of threat and then working out that actually we aren't very good and realising that we can be countered quite easily and the manager isn't good enough to overcome said counters.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

That isn't actually true of this season (tho it was of many recent ones). Our first slump was before New Year, really beginning in late November. January was actually quite a good month, winning three and drawing two, rising back to the top of the table, before the loss on 28th heralded the more disastrous plunge we are still in.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

True. Many of the goals against (which aren’t individual errors) seem to be a result of over committing players forward. Would suggest we are easy to counter against.

Are we asking Lambert for too much? We wanted attacking, possession based football - but then sold most of the players suited to that style? To be fair to Lambert he has always said it will take several years and even when we were top he said that it was only the beginning of the journey. Form ultimately dictates whether something is deemed successful...
