Why do they require an emergency meeting if they’ve already decided to follow the EPL?

Just get the comms ready.

Season ends here, folks.

I reckon they will bin the Euro 2020 tournament to give space to finish the season. It's the same at the lower levels - the step 7 league here has teams with 5 or 6 games missing due to the waterlogged pitches and trying to get those played by May is looking fairly impossible at the moment....

Interesting that they aren't taking the government advice.

Different approach. They are looking at the safety of players and staff, who spend a lot of time in close contact. The government is looking at gatherings of fans, who spend a little time together in the open air.

Clubs also cannot play games if half the team and coaches are in isolation.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

They have to protect the integrity of the competition also - Arsenal in isolation now are going to have a 2 week gap not training, as will presumably Chelsea (and Watford and Leicester reportedly).

How does that work?

I was speaking to a footballer yesterday and he thinks it's mad it hasn't been suspended as yet, friends who play abroad were texting him about their leagues coming to a closure. As soon as one person gets it, that team can't play, then chances are the team they played last week has someone who has it, etc

How they sort it out afterwards is the big question - but suspending it has to be done
