The projections are more likely to be accurate than some other scenario, and the projections see our health system completely collapsing due to an overwhelming number of CV patients with secondary respiratory disease needing intensive care all within a few weeks of each other.
Yes, the vast majority of these people will be old and/or with underlying health issues. Er... and this should mean everyone else shouldn't worry about limiting the spread? What the fooking hell is wrong with people?
The knock-on effects are seismic, sociologically, culturally, mentally and economically.
I said a couple of weeks ago our government should be in the mitigation phase immediately. They're damned if they do and damned if they don't in terms of enforcing a lock-down, but capacity can be ramped up or we can try. Whatever the cost.

I’ve been prepared to reserve judgment on our approach, given the apparent logic behind it.
However, I really do not understand why we are not being fully and forcibly locked down. It is negligent leadership.

I don’t think I’ve seen a less reassuring political broadcast in my life than the one today, and the other 3 weren’t good by any merit. At the end I feel like I have more questions than answers.
There are zero figures, numbers, stats or anything in these, just empty platitudes about “following the science”. I’d expect a GSCE level teenager to give a better explanation of exactly what this science we’re following is.
Why has no one asked how they are timing and calculating these changes? Did we hit a threshold? Was this pre planned? What’s the next step and the step after that?
I’ve never seen a more obvious attempt at making it up as you go along. It feels like someone down the pub who claims they’ve seen a film they haven’t actually seen and then explaining it to someone else.
It genuinely baffles me how anyone gets any reassurance from them, even from a public speaking skills perspective it’s embarrassing. The rest of the world looks on with gritted teeth and their head in their hands.
