The joke of the PRP free hit 14:37 - Jul 11 with 1870 viewsBluefish

and shame on everyone that ever said it.

He was appointed in October and I think we were 5 points from safety.

Pearson was appointed in December and 7 points from safety. Pearson didn't go for a free hit at the shambles that was Watford, he had belief and sorted the team out and stayed up comfortably

F**King free hit indeed. The bloke was made bigger than the club and the mess got worse.

Just because our personal wage bill increases does not mean that we can compete on the wider scale of finances in the Championship...? How is that moving the goalposts? Even with a wage bill of £18.95m, I would we were still bottom 5/6 in the league, hence we cannot compete realistically in that league, goes to show the sterling job Mick did.

Are you trying to compare Ipswich signing Will Keane to Fulham signing Mitrovic.

Sheffield Utd were not bottom of the league when they signed Norwood, Fulham were not bottom of the league when they signed Mitrovic, nor were we bottom of the league when we signed McGoldrick.

Talk about moving the goalposts, ey.

You suggested we weren’t able to attract anyone as we were bottom of the league and offered up the fact that the players we did sign were out of favour at their clubs as evidence. I was therefore pointing out that wasn’t the case as clubs throughout the league sign players that are out of favour

So no, I haven’t moved the goalposts at all

You’ve literally backed up my point in your post.

We couldn’t attract anyone of notability because we were bottom of the league.

Your counter argument was that’s ya possible because Fulham signed Mitrovic in January’.

Comparing apples and pears springs to mind.

But listen I get it, you need to beat the stick from every angle, no matter how illogical or unreasonable, I get that.

You said we couldn’t compete financially. I pointed out that we spent heavily and pointed to our accounts and you moved the goalposts to say that spending doesn't equate to success

You then said we were scraping the barrel as the players we signed were out of favour at their clubs. I pointed out that this was standard business in the Championship and highlighted other examples, you’re now again moving the goalposts to say that’s apples and pears

I’m not finding sticks to beat Lambert with, we signed a number of players quickly in January last year at decent expense - all the evidence points towards them being targets we’d identified to try and keep us up. They were cr*p and Lambert failed miserably - and even if you are right that we had no other option that still wouldn’t be mitigation as we should have just not signed them

But listen I get it, Lambert said some nice things so you need to find any excuse you can to defend him no matter how illogical or unreasonable, I get that
