Lambert will lose the last modicum of faith I have in him 13:58 - Sep 2 with 722 viewsWarkTheWarkITFC

If he doesn't start his strongest team on Saturday and I don't actually think he will.

We haven't played a single pre-season game in his preferred system with his preferred personnel to have any hope of gelling.

Now that's fine to a degree if we use Bristol Rovers as a final pre-season game, he plays what he thinks is the best side and he challenges them to keep the shirt for Wigan.

I would hope and expect the Arsenal U21 match to be where he uses what he considers to be his back ups in each position of that system.

However, a mix and match side against Bristol Rovers essentially means he will be playing his strongest XI a week on Sunday without them having played together in a match at all.

Which would be absolutely incredible. Really he should already know this and we should have ensured that partnerships were formed and that the system worked with these players. The fact we don't going into the season is bad enough but to go into the league opener would be another level.

One thing that did occur. Is Lambert now just picking the players he gets on with best? Judge? Nolan? Are these the players that like Lambert and he's trying to forge a team spirit of sorts by playing the players that dislike him the least?

Be fair here, how CAN he pick his strongest XI? He doesn't KNOW his strongest XI.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

The XI that he perceives to hate him the least then.

Which may include 2 or 3 keepers.

It will be the ones he likes and perform the best in training, be prepared to see your starting midfield at 14.00:01 on Saturday of Nolan, Huws, Judge or my personal favourite starting Judge as a left winger FFS.

I think he will go full strength Saturday, kids v Arsenal, full strength v Wigan. Just my opinion.

Yes, if we select three pedestrian centre-midfielders (I'd go for Nolan, Huws and Skuse personally) and then put Judge notionally down for the left-wing position but obviously he'll go nowhere near the touchline, select Edwards on the right-wing to dribble it off the pitch, add in Donacien and Kenlock as the full-backs, it actually becomes literally impossible for us to launch any kind attack.

As long as Skuse isn't starting I'll be happy.
