I would rather have good division 1 players playing roughly 30 games a season than so called championship standed players who only play 10-20 games a season at the most.
Some of our players are on easy street here, they get good wages for half a seasons work and I don’t believe it bothers them one bit. They will still be here adding to their retiring fund next season with no reason to try as if they ever got promoted most of them would have to find new employment

For me, the staggering thing this season is how seemingly none of our strikers can be trusted to play. Drinan picks up a knock on the opening day gets subbed for a precaution and disappears for 3 months. Hawkins is into his second layoff of the season, Norwood effectively operates on sentry duty - a fortnight on, a fortnight off, Jackson leads the line and grabs a 3 game break at the earliest opportunity - well it's better than doing your job I suppose? |  | | |

I don't really buy this as an explanation for why we're so poor. Our players get good wages for a regular person but not for an elite footballer. If they really are taking easy, playing within themselves, not bothered about failure, then they're diddling themselves out of much much higher wages. Getting promoted with Ipswich would double most of their wages. Getting a move, even to a richer Championship club, would see some of them earn ten times what they get now.
In reality, I think our players are much the same attitude-wise as footballers at every other club, a mixture of very ambitious, driven, laid-back, comfortable, steady, passionate, listless, talented but feckless. Some clubs find a way to drive such characters forward, some don't. But I don't think the main difference between us and Hull is that the latter is full of players with better personalities or that their players love the club. |  |
