Evans must still believe promotion with Lambert is possible 10:20 - Feb 2 with 1035 viewsHipsterectomy

To fund 4 very decent (on paper at least) loan signings. Obviously we're probably paying nowhere near any of their full wage, but as others have said it does seem a waste when our squad is so big, in reality we have maybe 2 play off places to play for and that money wasn't needed to be spent.

If this is the case, we may not even get rid of Lambert in the summer!

Disagree. I'm sure there are performance clauses in Lambert's contract & Evans appears to be keeping his side of the bargain so that once it is confirmed Town will again fail even to make the play-offs, he can be removed at a reasonable cost.
With a squad of 30 senior professionals, Lambert should have no excuses but I'm sure he'll find some.

Aye, he's tripled down on the farcical mishandling of Lambert's contract.

I think it's absurd but hey ho. We can't be surprised!

I’m finding it very difficult to keep behind this club with Lambert in charge. Even if we go up my feelings won’t change. I don’t like being taken for a mug.

Althought I believe playoffs is a big stretch now, there's a chance we could still get in there..

We've played 50% of our games this season = 36 points. If we somehow keep up this points tally we'll have 72 points by the 46th game. Will that be enough for playoffs though?

I think we need to be looking at 16 wins from 23 games - absolutely possible with this squad of players, as long as PL is capable of getting them to play together.

Can we do it? Yes. Will we do it, probably not. As someone mentioned in another thread, worst possible outcome is sneaking into the POs on the last day, then lose over the 2-legs, but contractually he's got us into the top 6, so we're stuck with him for another season at least.

we are halfway through the season with 23 games to go and 9 points off 3rd, 12 points off 2nd, automatic promotion is far from impossible. The returning players need to stay fit and get up to full match fitness as well as the new players gelling and making a difference. Time is running out but all is not lost yet as we enter the most difficult part of the season as injuries and suspensions kick in. This may be blind optimism on my part but I do not think it is all over yet.

I want to be optimistic, I want us to get promoted - even with Lambert in charge - but we've been here so many times before, and failed. I guess this time will just be the same.

It is a very poor league, and if - IF - we can actually beat Hull, Lincoln, Posh, Portsmouth, then we can claw back that gap quite quickly, but I expecting the usual injury problems to Harrop, Parrot, Thomas, etc to plague us for the rest of the season and we limp into 10th place.

The top two are not going to drop enough points to allow us to overtake them. Neither are the chasing pack.

Huge amount of faith required to think that Lambert can integrate 4 new players & turn a failing Town into an effective team.

Yeah, well faith is all we've got right now.

I just want my Ipswich team to start smashing the sh1t out of some of our rivals. Sick to death of 0-0, 1-0, 1-1 games, I want to see us hammer teams 4,5,6-0 and get some pride back in supporting this team.

We've got the personnel to do it, just need the so-called management team to up their game.

All or nothing now: 4/5 wins and we're safe from relegation, 15+ wins and we should make the POs.
