A step in the right direction 12:28 - Mar 2 with 316 viewshomer_123

Without getting carried away with the obvious enthusiasm a new manager brings, this does feel like a step in the right direction.

Lambert removed and Cook appointed, One half of the puzzle, possibly solved.

I posted a while back that I thought the Cowleys would be the best appointment for us but recognised that Cook would also be a sensible choice. If the takeover materialises and, as reported, the aim of those new owners is 'promote and sell' then Cook is an obvious appointment.

We've shown over the last couple of games what many fans have known from the outset of this season - we have a very decent squad at this level on paper. Hopefully Cook can cajole them into more of a collective, build a better spirit within the group and have a genuine stab at the play-offs and promotion this season - it's far from improbable or impossible.

Evans is currently still at the helm but at least we have a new manager that can work with what we have. In the short term, given the transfer window has closed anyway, a change in ownership right now won't materially affects what Cook can do in terms of players etc. - that would be for the summer.

Here's to Cook having a good crack at promotion.

I hope so. Feels like a safe choice if not an over-inspiring one. I don't know why but I'm struggling to get excited; possibly more because I was hoping for us to try something new under the new owners, whereas this feels like more of the same for now. That's unfair on Cook though.

Yeah, the last couple of games have showed we still can make the POs and that change to Gill doing more couldn't have come too soon. If we'd lost the last few we'd have been sunk, but we're only a couple of points off the POs (or 1 point behind S'land if we win our game in hand) and, bizarrely, are now one of the form teams.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?
