A job as what?... Surely not a footballer.

Freddie Sears thought he could still do a job in the Championship? on 14:30 - Mar 7 by Churchman

Freddie started well here. I thought he was a really asset initially. Paced, direct and knew where the goal was. Then a certain manager decided to stick him on the wing. Add in injuries and age and it’s time for him to move on.

Same with Skuse. Time’s up for him.

Our squad has 7 players over-30 in it and if you look at the sides near the top of this league and you don't see a lot of players approaching their mid-to-late-30s in general.

Peterborough have 2, Beevers (31) and Thompson (30), both centre halves and the rest of their squad is under 26.
Lincoln have 1, Bridcutt (31), a defensive midfielder.
Hull have 2, Magennis (30) and Smallwood (30).

Sunderland are most similar to us, with 3 Leadbitter (35), McGeady (34) and Maguire (32), but even then we're talking apples and oranges really - Maguire, McGeady and Leadbitter all had much higher peaks than most of our lot.

I think an ambitious side would be looking to move more or less all of them off the wage bill, excepting cases where it would leave us short and there's no replacement to be found.
