Town Tours to North America in the 1970s and 1980s 19:32 - Mar 7 with 3123 views | ITFC_nostalgia | I’m doing some research for our Instagram nostalgia page ( https://www.instagram.com/p/CMEP0o6Dewk/?igshid=1nhu0ebej35qe) and wondered if anyone had any memories or sources of the Town Tours to North America in the 1970s and 1980s? The games I’ve found are below and those starred I’ve found very little- 1977 Toronto Metros*, Portland Timbers, Vancouver Whitecaps 1978 Vancouver Whitecaps* 1979 Detroit Express, Minnesota Kicks 1981 Calgary Boomers 1982 4 team tournament - Tampa Bay Rowdies, Fort Lauderdake Strikers, São Paulo. Any pointers would be really helpful.

Town Tours to North America in the 1970s and 1980s on 20:46 - Mar 8 by Crawfordsboot | Great story - beats my memories of a drink with the man who won us the cup |
Your story was pretty good too. We didn’t run into any other Ipswich fans that day. Glad there were some (was one ?) I have a little Paul Cooper story. When he and his wife first moved to Ipswich, they were our next door neighbours at the corner of Westbourne Road and Lister Road. They didn’t know anyone in Ipswich yet, so my parents visited a couple of times with his wife til they got settled.

Didn’t Frans go to Forest from us and then on Toronto?

Town Tours to North America in the 1970s and 1980s on 21:18 - Mar 8 by floridablue | Great stories and memories lads and all worth reading from the days when our 'boys' were certainly up there with Europe's elite clubs!! Old school/local mate went on to play in Canada, early 70s after he left Towns youth team. Philip Trenter was his name and in the same class as my sis and Brian Talbot. Didn't he also have a season recovering from an injury out there? |
Thanks, Mr. Florida. I am afraid that I don’t know Philip’s story. Wish I did. I love all the Canada-Ipswich connections, from Twamley to Peters.

My bad. Think I saw that he left Town and joined VW in the same year and assumed that was the deal.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this post. We posted today on Gerry Baker and tomorrow we’ll be using some of this info for our next post. I suspect you can see the theme we’re going with.... https://www.instagram.com/p/CNXO0i2LyIH/?igshid=10yw30li56hxq
