Cook's comment annoyed me a little 15:18 - Apr 1 with 2176 viewshype313

"I’ve got to say, I see owners get criticised and I’m not going to go into that, but I don’t understand sometimes the criticism that Marcus has had at the club.

“I just look at the investment he’s put in, continuing even through the pandemic and all the problems.

“The fans are always entitled to their opinion, without a shadow of a doubt, I get that. I’ve only heard so much positivity from Marcus about the club and the plans going forward that I’m actually excited."

Hmm, don't know where to start with this, most of what Cook has said has been positive and true, but he can't just say he doesn't understand why Evans gets critised just because he's had positive conversations with him and not look at the deeper issues over the past 13 years for us as fans, and not understand why Evans isn't on most of our xmas card lists.

We've all been hoodwinked over the years by Evans intermittent positive statements, and I'm as guilty as the next of buying into it, but we're a bit all tired and weary of it now. Especially as ST renewals are just around the corner and suddenly Marcus is re-energised, apologies if I'm skeptical of his soundbites but once bitten twice shy for me.

I truly hope for Cook's sake that it is all positive and things are really changing behind the scenes to give him the best chance of success, but cynicism is sitting on my shoulder, bearing down on me.

I do get that Evans get criticized. He has made some wrong decisions especially regarding managers, he has been too distant from the club, been to slow at making hard decisions, etc.
What I don´t get is people saying he hasn´t spent money or has sold players at every opportunity, it´s just not true. People also seem to forget that we have always been a selling club (when we get really good offers, we sell and buy players to develop). Unless we get into the Champions League and build a small fortune we will probably always be a selling club.
I also don´t get people that think Evans should sell the club for the sake of it, no matter what comes after. Of course I would like owners that would spend a little more, but I also care what happens long term if success doesn´t come in a couple of years.
