That's quite outstanding isn't it.

There is a comment in the replies thing where someone mentions how the bands eyes light up when they are doing a cover of a band they love - and they actually do.

And Radiohead are all miserable bastards as well.

In fact they are very much like New Order inasmuch as they tend to treat their fans with contempt - which is actually really cool.

Maybe they should have got Gillian to sing...

Barney's singing is fragile, that's perhaps too kind.

Saw in another thread you were about to start on the Stephen Morris book. I was saving it for a Summer read but since hearing a clip will get the audio version. Read Hooky's books, better than Barney's I thought. Might get the audio version of those too come to think of it.

I've got the audio version and I am looking forward to starting it tomorrow.

Barneys book isn't available in audio format which is a problem for me because for some reason I now find it impossible to read a book, I simply can't concentrate and keep drifting off to another planet, god knows what it's all about, I have almost zero short term memory as well.

Anyhoo

I'm gonna branch things out a bit and I am unashamed to say I like The Scissor Sisters and this one holds a very special place in my heart, I will never forget dancing with my good mate (RIP) Rup Bagha to it in Tiger Tiger just off Piccadilly on what was one of the most enjoyable and craziest evenings of my life - it's also a fantastic stage performance. I was wowzered when I first saw it and I remain wowzered

Also, Ana Matronic was on Jetstream

Fantastic cover.

There's a podcast on Spotify called No Dogs in Space which is all about the evolution of punk. It's hosted by an American couple so is predominantly focused on the US scene - it might not appeal to everyone but I have to say I've really enjoyed it. Recently they covered Joy Division and it's great.

The first series they did was on the Stooges which was excellent, and would recommend anyone to start there so that you get a feel for their style. There's a good balance of knowlwdge and they also play some great snippets of tracks that influenced the artist they're talking about.

"Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

Time for a Spacetron Lucan?

Ah, The Spacetron, annoyingly I can't seem to master it at the moment but in the early hours of this morning I had it off to pat.

Here's the thing though, I would like to claim that I am a complete party animal but although I may have been off my tit I was actually working. Don't mean to bore you but I will anyway - and at the risk of going off subject I just want to clarify that I am quite a responsible bloke as boring as that seems.

The thing is we have major problems with shipping containers in at the moment and the Chinese are obviously on a different time bandwith so I have of late had to spend most days staying awake all night to talk to the feckers, most days I don't finish until around 4am and then I have to be at my desk at 9am for normal sh1t.

Thankfully over the years I have developed a way of having serious discussions whilst being absolutely tvvated, I have always had this skill though. I used to be able to neck a load of hallucinogens but be able to have a sensible conversation if I bumped into say my father in law for example.

As for now though - I am absolutely shattered and my body clock has stopped tick tocking, I had a bottle of Prosecco at midday and then thought - what the feck am I doing.

I'm all over the place BL.

My brother used to run that place back in the early noughties, had many a night in there at his pleasure, and ran a fundraiser for a charity I was working for which featured DJ sets from jazzy b and Danny Dyer. The latter turned up with Danni who was 4 at the time and left her in the basement with a kindly barmaid looking after her until 1 in the morning whilst he got smashed upstairs. Had to do a bit of work to keep that out of the press.

Scissor sisters were decent. Might dig out a couple of theirs after the footie.

Without wishing to be too sensible, take care of yourself Lucan. No prizes for working yourself into the ground/burnout.

We all need a living but make sure it's not at the expense of your health :-)

I watched Human Traffic again last night, he don't half look young in that.

Common thing is to think the blokes a tvvat but I, along with most people don't know him, he might be alright.

Controversially I don't think he's that bad an actor

As for Tiger Tiger, I'm not sure if it's still there but it was an ok place, unlike a lot of London late bars / clubs when it's all a bit who you know sort of thing.

Didn't know you or your bruv were into the club thing in London. I'm well past all that but I used to frequent a few places in what seems like another life. Always enjoyed a place near The Bear and Staff just off Leicester Square near the bloke who sell pizza slices all day and night, think it might have been called The Viper at some point.

Never been too keen on central London mind, being a bit of a dinosaur I've always liked the rough or out of the way places - which I never remember where they are after I've been. Had a few nights with a some of the Braintree Ipswich lot in town and they know a few places - and they are a great bunch of MFs who know where it's at.

Edit - I used to go with the Braintree lot on the Sex pistols boat. I've probably banged on about it before but it's the same boat from 77 and there is a Sex Pistols tribute band on there and we sail up and down the river and act like a complete load of idiots.

It's marvellous fun but I think the vessel may have been decommissioned now as it hasn't happened for about 7 years. Last time I bumped into Steve Diggle who is a proper Mod - as were the whole band until they latched onto the punk thing after seeing The Pistols in Manchester

It's not like that BL but I appreciate your concern.

I actually love work.

I enjoy work as much as sitting in the pub.

Little brother ran places in town for about 15 years. He’s got middle aged and does cinemas these days. TT was pretty rough all told, just another Westminster meat market really. He was on the door the night in 2007 when a couple of car bombs were left outside the gaff, which held some drama.

He booked east17 for a New Years do and they ended up having a massive brawl before going on stage shortly before midnight, Brian Harvey apparently shouting at Mortimer, no ones bigger than e17. That’s how he tells it anyway.

I have tried to find an east 17 cover off love will tear us apart to get this thread back on track but have unfortunately failed.
