Just been thinking as I'm reading about Ramsdale to Arsenal for 30 odd mill. How much would Wright cost now? Arguably similar in age and experience to Ramsdale.

Sheepshanks reported a figure higher than that, but the chief exec at the time said it was around 2 million. I think the lower figure you quote is what we were left with after paying off Marcus's contract which seems to be common practice.
Or from TWTD:
Stewart Fee £3.25m?30th Aug 2002 15:03 Town may have got a larger fee for striker Marcus Stewart than originally expected, if the figures being quoted by Sunderland and Rangers are correct.0

I was told the figure some while afterwards by someone who would know. I doubt we'd have paid off his contract. The £3.25m figure was an extrapolation from the Sunderland PLC statement and Rangers having announced the fee for Flo. The £10m included their wages as well as the fees, if I remember rightly.

Such an odd signing when the could have had Matt Ryan or any number of other l Keepers for free.
Doesn't feel like he coming in as a no 1 and 30 mil seems insane...a good keeper but 2 relegation in 2 years and nothing that suggests he's stand out.
Arsenal's player management has been abysmal over the last few years, regularly paying top dollar for bang average players. They also let Martinez go to Villa & I feel he is better than Leno or Ramsdale.
