So 25 games in 08:52 - Nov 24 with 512 views | hype313 | And realistically we have 3 players who are certain starters (Walton, JD, Fridge) and the rest you could argue are there for the taking which is ridiculous at this stage of the season. Add in the fact that he still doesn't know his best 3 behind Bonne and constantly rotates them just shows he's trying to throw as much mud at the wall and hope something sticks. This 4-2-3-1 is great in practice but if the players can't play in that formation consistently and well, then surely we have to look at other ideas. The most damning thing about last night was the desire from Rotherham to chase down everything, the main reason we couldn't go forward is that they defended as a unit and ran their socks off, and looked fitter. I like Cook, I really do, but I'm finding harder and harder to defend him as games go on, I wonder if having all the sweets to play with has confused his thinking, he has a plethora of players to choose from, and when you look at Wigan and Pompey they were small tight knitted units. To be fair, us as fans can't really give much more than we are doing, 18k on a cold Tuesday night in League One, to then get served up 1 shot on target in the 91st minute just isn't good enough.

We appear to be throwing players in and hoping that our quality alone will win us games. I know the summer was always going to be difficult but for all of the quality, there still seems to be plenty of unbalance in the squad. We desperately need a leader at the back to play alongside the fridge. If Cook wants his full backs bombing on then this also needs to be addressed. We haven't found any consistency in wide areas with the exception of Burns who has had injury issues and I still feel as though the midfield partnership of Morsy and Evans is confused. Add in the fact that the Pig hasn't been able to back up Bonne because of a lack of game time and it is a bit of a mess really.

The problem we have is that Morsy and Evans are quite similar in their play, and both seem to get a nosebleed going past the halfway line, this then means as a unit our linkup play are too far apart, from midfield to front 3 and then Bonne, which is why he is so isolated. The other problem we have is that when the ball is pumped up to Bonne he tries to flick it on but no-one is ever there to take the gamble, he's just flicking it on to the opposition defenders. As Steve said, is a complete mess, disjointed, and no coherent plan.

JD is fine if Burns is playing, most of our attacking threat has come from that right channel, but when he's out, it becomes stark how toothless we are on both flanks.
