I suspect they have 2 or 3 in mind who are currently in employment and thus are going to go with mcgreal until the seasons end and see how he does.

I think they'll appoint someone they have ben sounding out for a while. After Rotherham it was clear Cook was a dead man walking, i think they then brought in McGreal exactly for this purpose but a few games rather than end of season. He'll then go back to U23s when new man starts.

Even if say Mcgreal won the next 3 games, and people say give it to him until end of season, if he then ends up going on a horrendous run after there will be too much support bases saying why on earth did we not appoint a full time manager when the play-offs were still in touch (just).

They need a full time man in the post because of Jan window. You can't really have an interim manager for the transfer window if he's going to be gone a few months later.

Tabby has probably said to them he’s got a couple of things on, so if they can just sort out some interim cover, he’ll be able to start properly once he’s sorted those things out.
