Andy Rolls 09:56 - Dec 17 with 1802 views | MaySixth | The relationship between Ashton and Cook might have begun cordially enough as they worked together in a reconstruction of the squad, but The Athletic has been told it quickly deteriorated in the weeks that preceded Ipswich’s second managerial change of 2021. They are understood to have clashed over the summer appointment of a performance team headed by Andy Rolls. Former West Ham United head of sports science Rolls had worked with Ashton at Bristol City but became a bone of contention with Cook, who was dissatisfied with the fitness levels of his squad.

Alot was said at the time of appointing M/A about the Rolls appointment and again if the Athletic is correct which you'd have to assume for for them to print... are the BC fans spot on and are we just going to have problems no matter who managers us.
Maybe this is the Norwood 'Hands are tied meaning.
I do wonder if the Amercians have a plan B if it appears like the Ashton train is just continue on its negative journey.

Andy Rolls on 10:53 - Dec 17 with 1428 views | Fixed_It | I got the impression, rightly or wrongly, that there were times when the Sports Science/fitness bods were telling Cook who was and who wasn't available to select - based on fitness stats. Which would also make some sense of the 'hands tied' comment from Norwood.

If Norwood was deemed unfit I’d hate to see some of the data on the rest of them. 29 minutes in the tank every game…

Even with my views on Ashton, I never got dragged into the fitness / injury debate at City. We did have lots of injuries, mid to long term, but it’s still a very difficult to lay blame. Patrick Orme, the conditioning coach did admit that the “medical team” got pre-season 20/21 wrong, and that contributed massively to muscle injuries. Rolls record at West Ham was poor, but was it down to him? I don’t know. A few players have criticised the fitness stuff, but I suspect that happens all the time. What have your injuries been like this year? Worth having a Google of Andy Costin though, weird!!!

Certainly no worse than previous seasons, probably slightly better. Very low bar, mind.

Ipswich Town are a bigger football club than Bristol City. Discuss.

Easy answer….yes, based on a long period of time. I hope you weren’t expecting me to say City are bigger. Then again, how do you define “bigger”? If you do the normal kind of things, then there’s no real debate. But if you want to move goalposts and say the last 5 years (which I’m gonna do), then you might get a different answer | | | | Login to get fewer ads

That was a particularly pointless response to a genuine reply to your OP, don't you think?
