Sorry it really wasn't. It was down to us having only one up front and no idea how to reach that target. If we had played ball to feet I think it would have been a different story.
At portman road we outplayed you most of the game. Your midfield was non existent in the first half. Defence got beaten again and again on left side and only our finishing and final ball were the problem. You carried a threat second half for a while because of how narrow our defence was with 3 cb's and wingers pushed forward.
Edmundson nearly ran the length of the pitch right through your midfield. I can't believe Sunderlands result recently with how they played against Ipswich. If we had a decent coach (as I believe we have now) and played with some ideas it would have been a different story. |
Sadly, the reality was we failed to beat them twice and scraped just the one goal and one point. If we played them twice more in the next month I doubt the results would be much different.
After half a season the table doesn’t lie. They are organised and have a decent defence. We are not and conceded goals with ease, often two a game. They are a good team at this level. We have the capability to play the odd good game once a month.
Now that calamity Cook has gone, we will hopefully improve, but at the moment, we are literally looking up at Sunderland and they’re an awful long way away. [Post edited 27 Dec 2021 23:41]
