Talking about brave people. from the Times:

A Ukrainian woman confronted heavily armed Russian soldiers guarding an area north of Crimea and urged the invaders to place sunflower seeds in their pockets so they could grow in the local soil “when you all die here”.

She has been hailed a hero after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

Ukraine World, which shared the video on Twitter, reported that the unidentified woman had approached Russian soldiers in Henychesk, southern Ukraine.

One of the soldiers glared at her as she asked them why they were on “our land” and offered them sunflower seeds, the national flower of Ukraine.

When people asked on Twitter for a translation of the woman’s comments, Chris Taylor, from Mashable, shared a version which said that the woman asked the soldier, “Who are you?”, to which he replied, “We have exercises here, please go away”.

The woman asked: “What kind of exercises? Are you Russian?” He confirmed that he was and she questioned him further. “So what the f*** are you doing here?” she said.

The soldier told her: “Right now, our discussion will lead to nothing.”

She is said to have replied: “You’re occupants, you’re fascists! What the f*** are you doing on our land with all these guns? Take these seeds and put them in your pockets, so at least sunflowers will grow when you all lie down here.”

The soldier then warned her to “not escalate this situation, please”.

Undeterred, she pressed on: “What situation? Guys, guys, put the sunflower seeds in your pockets, please. You will lie down here with the seeds. You came to my land. Do you understand? You are occupiers. You are enemies.”

The soldier conceded “yes”, to which she said: “And from this moment, you are cursed. I’m telling you.”

He ordered her to go away and again told her not to “escalate the situation”. The woman swore at him, saying: “How can it be further escalated? You f***ing came here uninvited. Pieces of sht.”
