What gets me is how long it takes some organisations to react to what is staring them in the face.
Whether it's FIFAs initial response, the ICC finally waking up and investigating war crimes, or our Govt's current untenable position ref Ukranian refugees.
They get there - but wtf does it need them to be embarrassed into taking sensible decisions rather than them just doing it, because it's the right decision in the first place. |  |

In the case of FIFA it’s no doubt financial. In the case of the ICC it’s probably the case of not wanting to push Russia to the point of no return. In the case of our government it’s because the Brexit referendum result (IMO) was because of freedom of movement so they do not want to look weak on it, for whatever reason. |  |

None of which are remotely defendable positions hence why all three end up changing their position and looking like they have done so due to outside pressure, rather than them taking a principled position from day 1... | |

"Contentious subject" is very true when an organisation is swimming in sewage from it's previous connections with questionable individuals, individuals they were happy to take money from without asking too many questions at the time. | |
