Appreciate this would mean moving Edmundson out of things. But is our imbalance on the left compared to the right a hindrance or is it just implausible to have balance on both sides of the pitch and 2 cbs roaming through games..
I see posts about strikers. Goals etc. But we rarely see anything happening from the left that results in a goal, this has to change doesn't it? Or is it OK and it is just lack of cutting edge from strikers..
I appreciate the cleansheets etc so it's clearly something that works defensively... but is it something that is costing us in our attacking phases and holding us back..
The reason I mention Janoi in the subject line is the freedom his runs provide Burns and the outlet he provides.. on the left we only have Thompson who doesn't have that roaming cb partner.
I think we need a left sided Burns rather than a left sided Janoi. Edmundson and Burgess are more than competent there but Thompson is just a lot more defensively minded than Burns is. This can work against the better teams where Burns can effectively forget about his defensive duties knowing that Janoi can cover him and we move into a flat back 4. But against the weaker opposition it would be good to have a lwb who can bomb on like Burns does knowing that the 3 at the back are comfortable enough at dealing with any counter.
