At the pictures of the Zachariah- Ratcliffe family reunion and I felt huge sympathy with her I also found myself reflecting on the other cases of ethnic Iranians with dual, or triple nationality held in Iran. The uk govt. website warns of the risk of arrest for dual nationals travelling to Iran. Therefore I can’t help but wonder what degree of personal responsibility rests with say Mehran Raoof, described as a labour rights activist who remains under arrest in Iran. Or with Morad Tahbaz, who it seems has Iranian, UK and American citizenship. Surely these two in particular were I’ll advised to travel to Iran. We of course consider the regime to be abhorrent but if I was an Iranian national lucky enough to be granted a second or third nationality I would think long and hard about visiting Iran with the current regime in power. | |
