World Cup 22 and the lower leagues 14:31 - May 19 with 544 viewswkj

With the World Cup being hosted in December, I am curious how that will effect the lower leagues. Will we still be following the rule of having 3 players away means we can choose not to play, or does the entire domestic game shut down.

If the league shuts down, will we then be seeing some friendlies in the winter months to keep players match fit?

All a big mess really isn't it.

I presume it'll be the same as AFCON, where you just have to accept you'll lose players. That said, I don't imagine there are any teams in League 1 or League 2 who have 3 full internationals who have qualified for the world cup. Most international call-offs depend on U21 callups and low ranking nations.

Glad we're playing, gives me something to do whilst boycotting the bloody thing.
