Yet another severe weather event hitting Australia's east coast. 09:03 - Jul 3 with 707 viewsNthQldITFC

Whatever our own individual efforts, we all have to stop pretending and accept the fact that we are a culpable part of an overgrown, utterly stupid culture of brainless, flabby consumption which is destroying its own children's futures along with vast swathes of the irreplaceable natural world.

"Oh, I so 'needed' this new car, but isn't it terrible how expensive they are"

It was insane, as your children will be sadly telling you in a very short while. FFS wake up.

Watch out Wollongong.

"They break our legs and tell us to be grateful when they offer us crutches."

The thing is we probably have enough accessible resources to double our energy and material throughput in the next 25 years, the damage to the biosphere will be collosal.

It’s very noble of you to be so concerned - but Australia couldn’t give a toss about global warming - nor their two biggest customers for coal

Very true, they are some of the worst, if not the worst entities in the equation.

I'm not at all interested in whether I'm perceived as noble or a boring windbag or anything else, but I think we all have a duty to ourselves and to the future to be brave enough to face the reality, however scared we might be, so I keep droning on about it.

If anything it's almost a selfish thing. I'd quite like the planet to continue to be habitable.

Won't be very much fun when the rationing begins because the global food supply gets decimated, and if people think the migration issues caused by the Syrian war were bad, wait until until we reach the point of no return.

For anyone interested in good places to learn about things, Climate Town on YouTube is excellent.

Always worth mentioning whilst it's great to try and personally help things along by eating less meat, shopping locally etc. the most important thing to do is to vote for people who are actually committed to sorting it out. There is still time.
