I’m sure someone we be along to tell us how it’s NATO’s fault…

At this stage Vladolf has gone full Nazi. It seems the sanctions are having little deterrence so it’s hard to see how this ends.

Yes, Russia blame Nato backed by their mates China and India.

The poorest countries have a deep mistrust of the west for obvious reasons and Putin has been careful to extend influence to those places.

The line is an easy one. ‘We were forced to take action against NATO aggression, the west is stopping the great benefactor mother Russia supplying its friends’. ‘Proof of NATO aggression is those countries’ colonisation in the past and interference in other countries like Afghanistan and Iraq. They are the aggressors.’

Rubbish of course but is the line Putin is taking and will take. It’s all about control of information. So millions may die. Who cares? Not Putin. Its pieces on a chess board. He’s an animal.

Sanctions were always a waste of time. A panacea for people who don’t want to sacrifice anything or do anything. The cry of ‘sanctions are working’ are as empty words as Putin is ill. Appeasement is still no 1 policy for Germany, Italy and Europe’s most important country, France.

Until the west gets its head around this, Russia, particularly China will grow. Totalitarianism will grow. As ever it has to be fought. Poland and those threatened have tumbled it, the U.K.and Japan have realised it in words, but done very little in deed and the rest of the world isn’t interested.

It’s always ironic the Russian trolls point to Afghanistan- which was not a NATO led invasion, but the following “peace keeping” force, and neglect to mention their own blood stained occupation of the country. They also seem to frequently suggest we created the situation in Syria which is a particularly odd take given we voted against intervention, and Russia DID occupy and caused mass civilian casualties.

It’s looking like a long drawn out war isn’t it?

If the west likes to massage the truth, the Russians/totalitarians like to invent it or remove it,

One of the best at this was Stalin. A trial consisted of a sentence and execution following eradication of your family, village, faces off photos, you name it. People just didn’t matter. They were nothing. I see no difference between him, Hitler and Putin or the smiling Chinese bloke.

Sadly, yes it’ll be a long drawn out conflict - unless Europe in particular bends the knee. That’s a distinct possibility.

Sadly, a long and protracted war only serves to benefit Russia. Putin's tactics and slow progress in Ukraine has been the subject of much ridicule, but perhaps this was the plan. While the sanctions imposed on Russia will impact them economically, and will start to bite over time, the implications to the rest of the world are more immediate and far greater. Russia knows that public sentiment and sympathy towards goverments will wane as inflation bites, imports become scarce and prohibitively expensive, and energy costs cripple ordinary people over the winter months. They want disruption, chaos, and civil unrest, and we'll likely see it.

It's heartbreaking, and so needless.
