Was against Bolton Wanderers at home. Defensively all over the place , non existent marking and over-run completely in midfield .
OK, there was no Morsy that day, but Walton, Edmundson , Burgess , Chaplin , Burns , Aluko,Evans are all players starting that day who could be involved a week today.
We now have changed the hapless Cook for McKenna , and it will be a stern test of his pre-season preparations .
I would suggest Bolton are a better team now than they were last October.
So alot to be learnt from the opening game. Maybe not all of it will be good. Expectations can weigh very heavy at the start of a new season.

It is definitely going to be a measure of how far we have progressed (or not) and a big chance to start off with an improvement on points return match-for-match with last season.

Cook was very lucky to be given longer after that performance. It was the moment I went from give him a little longer to prove he was the right man to Cook out.
