Watched the Huddersfield Burnley match last night and it was obvious the ref was clamping down on time wasting from Burnley when 1 up.

Hopefully filters through to all games as I know the refs have been told to clamp down on time wasting.

Probably will turn out to be another new season clamp down before returning to normal.

agreed and too many going down feigning injury which refs need to ignore and see how quickly they get up if play is allowed to continue. I thought they were only supposed to stop play for head injuries anyway!

Unless the injury looks serious or is head-related then play should just continue. It’s become a clear tactic in the game to exaggerate injury to stop the flow of the game. Infuriating.

Every time they do something like this, whether it’s shirt pulling, time wasting, diving etc it lasts about 4 games and then slowly drifts back to before.

It’s like the referees are ultra focused on it at the start of the rule and then just slowly forget.

It had become absolutely endemic! And in my opinion it's worse and more impactful than diving as it is disrupts the whole flow of a game to the point that it neutralises footballing ability and talent to some extent. Is without doubt up there as one of my top pet peeves along with commentators praising and practically encouraging diving and this sort of time-wasting by labelling it "clever play", call it what it is, straight up unsportsmanlike! rant over

I was half listening and swear the commentator said you have “three windows” to make subs in a game now. I guess to prevent being 1-0 up with 3 mins to go and making a sub every 30 seconds

And in terms of sportsmanship, almost every ref will blow if they feel a keeper is injured. Last season it seemed really common for teams who were under the cosh to have their keeper injured and allow their team to regroup and take off some of the pressure. It was really cynical but somehow accepted as one of those things
