It was impeccably observed but I'm not really sure of the point of it. Most people round me didn't even know what it was for and I can't imagine many of the victims' families gave a toss about a third division English game doing a minute's silence.

As it happened at a football stadium I think that factor dictated that a minutes silence was appropriate.
