Do you ever come across stuff on LinkedIn that you have no idea what it’s abou 14:09 - Oct 19 with 1427 viewsIllinoisblue

A connection shared some info about this company and I am baffled.

Assume it’s some of crypto related nonsense.

Gas fees are transaction fees, when there are high transaction volumes gas fees go up.

I swear they make these terms up as they go. That's probably the main reason I have no interest in crypto, it just seems like a bunch of bros manically talking in buzzwords.

Talking of gas, I read dynamic state sharding as sharting.

Shardeum is an EVM-based, linearly scalable smart contract platform that provides low gas fees forever while maintaining true decentralization and solid security through dynamic state sharding.

It is but they are doing hyper cool stuff.

Remember watching minority report for tbe 1st time thinking how cool it would be to have an interface like the one Tom Cruise uses, swiping left right etc. That's your phone now and I guarantee that a bunch of bros were already working on it at the time.

It all seems so distant now but this is a stuff that will become more and more part of everyday life in the coming decades.

They make sense, but they don't tell you anything interesting.

Shardeum is an EVM-based, linearly scalable smart contract platform that provides low gas fees forever while maintaining true decentralization and solid security through dynamic state sharding.

EVM-based - Basically runs on Ethereum, so crypto stuff.

Linearly scalable - If you give it x% more resources, it should handle x% more stuff. Some projects suffer when you give them more resources but they can handle less and less as it scales. It's not unique to crypto but it's "well known" in that space.

Smart contract platform - The thing that runs smart contracts. These smart contracts are essentially just small pieces of code that control how certain crypto currencies work. For example if you imagine you had a crypto currency and you said that for every purchase, 0.1% of the transaction will go to help fight climate change or something, you do this by writing it as a smart contract.

provides low gas fees forever - as someone mentioned above, essentially they are saying it's cheap. Gas fees are the price to execute a transaction.

maintaining true decentralization - Honestly, this could mean anything. Decentralised systems (when talking crypto) are basically talking about what entity makes the decision regarding something happening. In traditional currencies, this would say the bank, but in decentralised systems such as crypto it will be a group of entities. I'm not sure how this platform really comes into play, certainly could be buzz words here.

solid security through dynamic state sharding - This seems like a term they've come up with and even after reading through a blogpost on what they are talking about, it seems to have absolutely no relevance to security, so we can file this under buzzwords to.

If you'd just said that first we would all have been up to speed.

I'll take your word for it and try my best to avoid it all! I am brushing up on Ray Mears' Bushcraft for when I inevitably need to become a bivouac-dwelling hermit.

You can have an up for the dissection and putting it into oldspeak for me - although I'm still not sure I'll ever get it!
