Carolyn Grace was an amazing person. Her husband Nick was a heritage pilot and died in 1988 and it was thought at the time Spitfire Mk9 ML407 (a true WW2 survivor) would be sold on. Carolyn had other ideas. Qualified to fly it, she did the air show scene and took passengers for years. She was the only woman flying heritage aircraft.
Not for nothing is ML407 known as the ‘Grace Spitfire’. I hope it always will be. RIP
