An old flame of mine has been in touch and wants to come see me tomorrow so I'm thinking of having a winter BBQ with her. The thought of sitting around a BBQ eating nice food and chatting is something I'm looking forward to. It's only a disposable one and is left over from summer.

I was convinced you were wrong until about 5 minutes ago. I grew up on the Chalkstone estate, about 100 meters away from what we were all told was the River Stour. (which we would spend most of the summer wading around in) Just realised my entire childhood was a lie  |

I was a kid then so no pint, probably a coke, but yes, I went in there a few times I'm sure.
If it had a couple of pool tables, otherwise I'm wrong.
An uncle worked the market there for my dad then and I was sometimes dumped off to keep my cousin company, as kids were. Anywhere that retailed in alcohol would be on friendly terms with that particular uncle. | |
