In our house when i was a kid. Turkey, gammon joint , celery and a box of dates. Why the second two I'll never know as nobody ate them and they were thrown in the bin. The turkey carcass was put in the garden for the birds to peck at. To this day I hate celery and turkey stew and turkey curry . [Post edited 22 Dec 2022 12:50]

My dad used to use for fishing sometimes which should have told us all we needed to know.
Sandwich spread, sort of minced up coleslaw wasn't it. I liked it for a little while just because it wasn't luncheon meat. |
Every now and then I'd eat a sandwich spread sandwich ( Probably as a refreshing change to luncheon meat) then you wouldn't fancy it again for a year |  | | |

That pic reminds me of my favourite treat meal back in the day: Sausage, beans and chips. Followed by a banana split. What was not to like? I’d have much preferred that to Christmas dinner.

My Nan used to call Whisky and Ginger Wine a Whisky Mac…,,
My Dad used to make a barrel of homemade beer timed to be at optimal quality on or around 21 December. He’d barrel it in late November and on the night he did so, with all the tasting and syphoning etc , he’d end up a wee bit merry.
Having worked out that he’d agree to pretty much anything at this time I used to gain his agreement for the Narwich Boxing Day game be it at PR or Carrot Road. Happy memories. |  | | |
