It’s a bit of a click bait headline though:-
“ The average bonus in the finance and insurance sector rose from £3,146 in the first quarter of 2021 to £4,021 in the same period this year, said the union organisation”
That’s before deductions too - I thought we were all about the workers getting a share in the profits. Surely the issue here is the executives who earn many multiples of this? |  | | |

There is some degree of truth to what he is saying despite the dripping irony Swansea has pointed out. If the country was in recession or dealing with hyper-inflation on the scale some countries have done, the situation would be far worse than it is.
What really underlies Dean's comment is: "if the country is doing well, you can afford to tax people, pay public service workers properly and make sure I have a roof over my head and can get a job." Which is it, Sunak? Is the country a mess or are you choosing not to do these things?
Unfortunately, Sunak thinks he is there to pick up a freebie and is wondering what job he does. Perhaps he was expecting Dean to say "I am a nurse popping in as I am on strike and have nothing better to do." |  |
