Apart from the heartwarming story of Town’s win and promotion there is a good description of re-election for those too young to remember the process.

‘For younger readers there was no automatic promotion/relegation between the football league and non-league in these times but instead a process of “re-election” where football league clubs voted to retain or lose clubs.

In this instance the clubs, some would say foolishly, elected to retain the East Anglian minnows. Norwich had the go through this embarrassment three other summers while the process was in place while Ipswich, naturally, never did.’
