New Britpop podcast 07:17 - Jul 10 with 775 viewsdocklandsblue

Morning,
Not Town related (other than the fact that Lammo mentions attending the 78 cup final in this), but I think this new podcast will be up some of your streets.

The first four episodes of #TheRiseandFallofBritpop are live now on BBC Sounds presented by Jo Whiley and Steve Lamacq they take a warts and all look at the cultural phenomenon… there are amazing stories about everyone from Nirvana and the Manics through to Radio 1, Oasis, The NME and The Spice Girls along the way. Please download, subscribe, have a listen and if you enjoy it please spread the word 🫀

Four more episodes drop next Monday.

Which makes it hard to understand. Did he transfer his allegiance to Colchester because he hates his Dad, or himself?

Basically he loves underdogs and he came to Town at a point where we were good, so then he went to Layer Road and it felt more punk. Hard to describe how annoying it is to sit with a bloke who did the entire cup run in 78 but still ended up a Col U fan, weirdly Dermot O'Leary who also grew up in the Essex hinterland ended up supporting Arsenal largely because the first cup final he was aware of was 78 and he wanted to support the underdogs Arsenal when everyone in the surrounding villages has blue and white bunting up...
With a different result on the day we could have lost a star and gained two high profile fans :)

He revealed a couple of weeks ago on his 6 Music show that his education began at the village school up the road from me in Bocking.
