Some backlash against the Guardian for their Sinead O’Connor obituary on 14:53 - Jul 27 with 2627 views | Steve_M | It feels very cobbled together. There's plenty of better coverage of her life and career on the Guardian site today too, stuff that remains balanced.

It is very jumbled. Which is odd as I would have thought hers would have been mostly written and sitting in the obit folder for a while now.

Some backlash against the Guardian for their Sinead O’Connor obituary on 20:52 - Jul 27 with 2199 views | Oldsmoker | I honestly don't care what others think. I lived through her discovery - the radio blasting out a quirky tune called Nothin' compares 2U that I needed to hear again. No Itunes, Youtube then. The video was on TOTP some weeks later as a Chart entry - not even in the top 40. Then it was everywhere. I couldn't give a monkeys for a journo who had to look it up in the history books 'cos he was too young to experience it first hand. It is very rare to have emotion pouring out of your radio like that.

Definitely read like a 'quick get something out' piece rather than something someone had actually thought about. About a decade+ ago I ran an unofficial blog for my local boozer - the hardest piece I ever wrote was an obituary for an old boy of 80+ who'd been drinking there since he was 17 and was very much a 'fixture' local. I wrote, re-wrote and polished that for about 3 days before posting something. Obviously I had a bit more time because I wasn't(and am still not) a writer for a national newspaper but sometimes a bit of time to get it right is needed. This is all my theory why Phil uses the phrase 'TWTD understands' a lot - because he wants to get it RIGHT. [Post edited 27 Jul 2023 23:37]

Seems a very jumbled affair. [Post edited 28 Jul 2023 1:39]

In some people's views it may be harsh , But like a lot of people claim a troubled childhood And it may well be All true she never really got the help required from a young age ie 18 or the opportunity to confront her mother due to circumstances, Overall not a very happy life compounded by losing her son who also had his own demons. Hoping the children left behind are strong enough to cope and deal with everything life brings,
