I wonder if he still thinks our transfer window was a "debacle".

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I’m still around, just been busy lately I’m afraid, you miss me don’t you? I miss you too hun 😘

The transfer business was poor, no question about it, but we are plodding along nicely, amazing what a bit of team spirit and a decent manager can do for you. One of the factor's why we needed to strengthen IMO, was to have better back up when we inevitably pick up injuries, last season the injuries hit critical mass around November? time and that’s when we were relying on Humphrey’s as one of only 2 fit midfielders in the entire club. Injuries into that time of year concerns me still, this league is more attritional than league 1 and we’ve already had a lot of key players picking up regular knocks.

Couple of points.

1. "Plodding along"?!?
2. "The transfer business was poor, no question about it". Well yeah, there is a question about it. We're playing fantastic football and sit joint top, with 7 wins from 8.
3. "we needed to strengthen IMO" is very different from "this transfer window has been a debacle."
4. Yes, strengthening to cover potential injuries is a good idea, but you were bemoaning us not splashing the cash on the likes of Simms. He cost a fortune, has hardly set the world alight, so we've kept our powder dry and will have it for Jan. So that's excellent transfer work just there.
5. The Championship is more attritional than League 1? Really?

No I haven't missed you. It's funny how you're always "busy" when we're doing well though.

Transfer business isn’t just about the “now”, but like I said earlier, adding quality for the future months when injuries become more concerning, which they will, especially as we have more players on more lengthy International duties this season, there’s plenty of unattractive (from an ITFC squad perspective) extra games outside of the league campaign.

The transfer window was really poor, we missed pretty much every target that wasn’t already here playing and we ended up loaning a load of teenagers, that arguably, are no better than what we had at the club already and some that are complete unknown quantities. What many people don’t consider also, is that our failure to sign targets in certain positions has meant that several promising young players of our own product line have not been able to go out and loan to gain invaluable experience elsewhere; playing league football in the EFL, therefore their progress has been affected by the poor recruitment, which affects both the individuals and the club moving forward.
