Insight to McKenna ball from Rosenoir 13:04 - Oct 4 with 1297 views | unstableblue | "Kieran’s doing a fantastic job here. He’s got a team who understand the way he wants to play. He’s had 18 months, two years at it now. I hear them shouting certain things and they instantly know what they’re doing. The players know because he’s had the time to work with them. “For me they’re going to be an outstanding team this season. They were at top level today and for us, if you’re not at your level and the opposition in any Championship game are top level, then you’re going to find it difficult.” —— ‘I hear them shouting certain things and they instantly know what they’re doing’ that’s training ground drills, technical set-up, being taken into practice. That first half display doesn’t just happen. It’s the culmination of progressive management, a scientific approach drilled into players over many many sessions. It really gives confidence going forward.

Insight to McKenna ball from Rosenoir on 13:12 - Oct 4 with 1222 views | Guthrum | I was having an interesting conversation with someone about play calling in American Football. There is a whole series of intricate pre-planned moves which the offence team has to learn and they can be switched between (and tweaked, to an extent) with a series of simple signals. Sounds like we have something similar, albeit perhaps not so rigid. [Post edited 4 Oct 2023 13:13]

Ideally with less handling of the ball and gentler tacked as well!

That’s an interesting comparison regarding players knowing what to do. locally where I am the most successful high school programs are the ones that are aligned with the youth (American) football programs, meaning kids learn the play book from a very early age.
