Think it's believed to be an accident.

An RAF engineer once described the helicopter to me as a 'flying fatigue test machine' because there are so many moving parts in the bit that keeps you up.

I have been in a few in my military years, somewhere between exhilarating and terrifying.

We were once flying so low across a field that we had to pull up a bit to miss a cow.

I'm not sure that the civvy pilots are quite so exuberant, nontheless your missus should enjoy the gift
