It says a great deal about how intelligent our manager is by how well he has been able to get himself an excellent new contract while at the same time enhancing his own reputation. I'm glad he is on our side.

I have a feeling that our CEO was well in on the situation too and he has probably gotten himself a big pay rise. Worthy pair.

Whole heartedly agree with both of these comments. Business is business, and you need to be able to operate calmly and cleverly to get the best results all round. For yourself, but maybe for the team too.

I have no doubts Ashton and Mckenna were fully aligned and transparent with each other throughout this whole process.

Good men, and we are lucky to have them.

…isn’t it the inverse of that? After all, if folk hadn’t responded to clickbait then it wouldn’t have got traction.

Why do you insist on pushing the agenda that nothing was ever happening, despite numerous sources (and common sense) stating that it was?

Yeah, and particularly concerning for me (if the "strongly rumoured" story is to believed) is the fact that mckenna almost walked out of us in February to join Palace.
I'm viewing our time with him more pragmatically now....we get his wisdom in building us for the prem....not expecting much beyond that to be honest - and given his aspirations, I've come to terms with it.
He's fantastic, destined for bigger things and doesn't feel the love for the club like we do.

The problem is that common sense is so rare.

"We've got super Kieran McKenna" or a least we thought we had. In reality we knew deep down that one day he would leave for a bigger club. We were aware that because of what he had achieved over two seasons that he would be coveted by other clubs and whilst many who write on this forum say that in different ways both Chelsea and Man Utd are basket cases the lure of them for McKenna must be great. Brighton I don't really understand and it's only a personal view, but I don't see them as being bigger or have more potential than Town. The only reason I can see is that they are established and any improvement by McKenna would bring about a bigger club eventually signing him on. One thing McKenna said and although perfectly true was " Can you emulate Sir Alf and Sir Bobby" McKenna's answer was "I don't think so". Was this evidence that he believed Town's ability to stay and improve were not good ? Or was it just realising what they both achieved isn't possible today. I don't know much about the Sir Alf team, yes I am aware of Phillips and Crawford, Elsworthy and Broadfoot but unsure about how he managed to turn them into a team that won the old First Division. Sir Bobby's team I am more familiar with. He came in, saw that a few in the dressing room were ruling the roost. Kicked them out and wheeled and dealed for players and had a good youth squad that added to his players he bought. With so much tv players are harder to get today because everyone see's their potential and prices for pretty ordinary platers can still run into millions. How long we keep McKenna is open to debate. We must just be thankful, but like a woman she's only loaned, you don't own her.
