Your point might be fair, but I disagree that this is evidence of such. I watched the Slovakia v Romania game. It was open and entertaining until near the end. It would have been more entertaining if VAR didn't reverse a call and give Romania a controversial penalty. | | | |

Wouldn't say the format had any effect on the matches at all. The only team of the four you could reasonably say weren't trying hard to win was Belgium, and that was only from the last 15 or so mins. |  |

It’s how everyone’s coached now. Defensive shape. Pass back and recycle if nothing’s immediately on. Attacking players dropped if they’re not good at tracking back. It makes for slow and boring football. I think that’s why we did so well this year, as we refused to follow the script. |  |
