Just seen that Southampton backed away from a deal for him because of his 18 million valuation*. LW/Left 10 is a position we will 100% be looking at. Not sure Broadhead and his lack of athleticism will cut it, for all his quality on the ball.

Clarke seems perfect for us. Young, English, had time working at an elite club in Spurs. Got such a high ceiling. For 18 million id be all over that.

*Story is from The Sun- so could be a load of nonsense.

Avid Sunderland fan i know says despite a few goals and a lit of penalties Clarke doesn't offer a great deal and gets a lot of undeserved hype. Not Prem level in his opinion.

I know a couple of Sunderland fans who love him and think if he had slightly more consistency he would be the best player in the champ by far.

I remember the reviews we got about George Hirst.
