Jack Clarke 08:44 - Jul 2 with 16451 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | Just seen that Southampton backed away from a deal for him because of his 18 million valuation*. LW/Left 10 is a position we will 100% be looking at. Not sure Broadhead and his lack of athleticism will cut it, for all his quality on the ball. Clarke seems perfect for us. Young, English, had time working at an elite club in Spurs. Got such a high ceiling. For 18 million id be all over that. *Story is from The Sun- so could be a load of nonsense.

Jack Clarke on 09:30 - Jul 2 by Churchman | Good player Clarke. £18m good? I don’t think so. He’d be a great acquisition, but we have other priorities. Keeper, CH, CF and a midfielder. Whatever budget we have left should be prioritised on them. |
Having seen him a fair bit last year I think he's well worth £18m. Rapid and quality on the ball with good end product. Him or Philogene I'd be buzzing with.

Would imagine Philogene would be a better option if we are talking these valuations.

Definitely Philogene, but Barca want him! I think we can safely say we don't get a look in. Ben Brereton Diaz now mentioned too, plays similar position, Sheffield United's player of the season. Not a big fan personally, but can see the appeal in terms of experience.

Jack Clarke on 12:18 - Jul 2 by dirtyboy | I think the culture at Ipswich is very important and would tolerate one or two loose canons in that respect. He's still young and would likely adapt quite quickly in our set up in terms of attitude. It's when you have too many of those types you have a problem, in which case, if they are that way inclined....they need to be other worldly for the rest of the team to put up with them. Just been looking at stats/attributes....he's right up there! Surprised me a little to be honest. https://www.fotmob.com/en-GB/players/914402/jack-clarke |
Yep that doesn't concern me at all. Strong dressing room here that would have everyone in line.

Jack Clarke on 08:53 - Jul 2 by itfcjoe | Seems a lot of money for him, bearing in mind he's gone to the PL before and made no impact as that will reduce any potential sell ons. I do like him as a player but would prefer to go for a Sarmiento or Brereton Diaz for that role |
Brereton Diaz. Yes please.

It's a high price for him. Not convinced. He's a good championship wide forward for sure. I'd have him a level below Philogene for sure. Scored quite a few in an average Sunderland team but they were set up very much with him as main man. I'm not convinced he has the physicality or athleticism for Prem. I'd certainly not be against it but he'd be more in the £10 million bracket worth for me. And clearly they won't sell for that.

Jack Clarke on 11:51 - Jul 2 by Vic | 'Cocky little ****' is the verdict from someone I know very well who knew him very well. |
Didn't come across like that whatsoever in the Sunderland documentary. Seemed like a really nice guy. Quite quiet and reserved but seemed very polite. Could it have been Patrick Roberts they were talking about. Winger on the other side. He comes across much more like that but again in the doc he's got a nicer side to him as well to be honest.

That’s a very harsh assessment! How old was he when in the prem Before? In todays market I’d say £18m is very reasonable.

Think if possible we want Odobert as priority. Obviously proving a difficult deal to negotiate.

We won't get him for £18million. They won't sell for less than £25million.

I really like both of them, could see why Odobert would be the priority, but that is gonna be a very hard deal to do and id imagine extremely expensive. If we can't get him, Clarke is a great alternative.

Agree, reckon Sam Morsy would soon be setting some ground rules regarding attitude and ethics. Another player that could develop hugely under the mentorship of Kmc?

Don't think you need to be putting a question mark at the end of your post tbh. I can't think of a player that *hasn't* developed hugely under the mentorship of Kmc! (apart from B. Williams maybe, but obvs other factors at work there).

"bearing in mind he's gone to the PL before and made no impact" - Could say the same about Omari. What, 1 year difference in age when at a top premiership team. He looks ready for the step up now, and is a different player to the one that left Spurs Sarmiento looks like a sentimental pick, he's not done it at a lesser premiership club. While he is a year younger, he has done far less than Clarke at Championship level. He couldn't break into our lineup.

Jack Clarke on 12:28 - Jul 2 by Mediocre_Quick | He moved to the Prem aged 17/18 and barely got a look in at Spurs, so wouldn't say he *failed* in the prem as he didn't get anywhere near the team at the time, and given the talent they had at the time on the wings, he didn't really stand much of a chance, Always been a fan of him, so would be interesting to see what KM could do with him if the price was right |
Avid Sunderland fan i know says despite a few goals and a lit of penalties Clarke doesn't offer a great deal and gets a lot of undeserved hype. Not Prem level in his opinion.
