Just seen that Southampton backed away from a deal for him because of his 18 million valuation*. LW/Left 10 is a position we will 100% be looking at. Not sure Broadhead and his lack of athleticism will cut it, for all his quality on the ball.
Clarke seems perfect for us. Young, English, had time working at an elite club in Spurs. Got such a high ceiling. For 18 million id be all over that.

Good player Clarke. £18m good? I don’t think so. He’d be a great acquisition, but we have other priorities. Keeper, CH, CF and a midfielder. Whatever budget we have left should be prioritised on them. |
Having seen him a fair bit last year I think he's well worth £18m. Rapid and quality on the ball with good end product.

I think the culture at Ipswich is very important and would tolerate one or two loose canons in that respect.
He's still young and would likely adapt quite quickly in our set up in terms of attitude. It's when you have too many of those types you have a problem, in which case, if they are that way inclined....they need to be other worldly for the rest of the team to put up with them.

It's a high price for him. Not convinced. He's a good championship wide forward for sure. I'd have him a level below Philogene for sure.
Scored quite a few in an average Sunderland team but they were set up very much with him as main man. I'm not convinced he has the physicality or athleticism for Prem. I'd certainly not be against it but he'd be more in the £10 million bracket worth for me. And clearly they won't sell for that. |  |

Didn't come across like that whatsoever in the Sunderland documentary. Seemed like a really nice guy. Quite quiet and reserved but seemed very polite.

He moved to the Prem aged 17/18 and barely got a look in at Spurs, so wouldn't say he *failed* in the prem as he didn't get anywhere near the team at the time, and given the talent they had at the time on the wings, he didn't really stand much of a chance,
Always been a fan of him, so would be interesting to see what KM could do with him if the price was right |
Avid Sunderland fan i know says despite a few goals and a lit of penalties Clarke doesn't offer a great deal and gets a lot of undeserved hype. Not Prem level in his opinion. |  | | |
