Remember the story around his PL debut.

Wasn't he third choice at West Ham, boyhood fan, thrown in for a derby away at Chelsea where they won 1-0 and he made a series of worldies in a game Chelsea win 10-1 on another day!

But yes definitely third choice and experienced cover to allow Slicker to go out and get a year in Scotland I guess.

EDIT - Seen he joined Southend as keeper coach then registered to play due to an injury. So perhaps Gilmartin has had an offer elsewhere or we're going with two keeper coaches and one who can register in an absolute emergency.
