Me too. It’s blighted the tournament for me.
Even worse, it’s rarely called out and there’s never any action taken against the people that do it. I’m told it’s ‘part of the game’. ‘Simulation’, ‘took one for the team’, ‘won a free kick’. No it isn’t. It is cheating pure and simple and it is condoned by the authorities, players and commentators.
If the Spanish player was given a 5 game ban for the incident you rightly mention, would he do it again? Of course not. The vast majority of this incidents are obvious and easy to spot. |  | | |
